英文的贅字陷阱何其多，就連米國人也經常犯錯。避免講英文時的尷尬語病，讓教練來幫你。Avoid redundancy in English.

上圖是必勝客的招牌，這招牌有什麼不對勁嗎？

                       這年頭大概沒有人不曉得Pizza Hut是賣Pizza的。

                    所以Pizza Hut 說We have pizza ，後面那句話就是多餘的。

常聽見身邊的人說：「喔，這真是太Over了」
其實這是一個蠻常見的語病，因為英文Over這個字本身就有「太」的意思，所以over的前面根本不需要再說「太」。

1. 提款機的英文你會說ATM machine嗎?

2. 提前計畫事情是很重要的 We need to plan everything in advance. 這句英文很OK啊。

3. 絕對必要的這句話的英文是It's absolutely necessary.

4.周年慶特賣的英文是Annual anniversary sale.

5. 老王是個禿頭 Mr. Wang is bald-headed. 

如果上面五題你都回答YES，小心你已經得了贅字捱囉。但大家別沮喪，因為很多老外
也有這個毛病，而且頻率之高令人難以想像，這跟台灣很多人掛在嘴上的太Over是一樣的。

教練這幾年教英文贅字蟲抓了不少，今天先分享最可怕的贅字陷阱，


最後，上面那五題的贅字在哪裡?我們來很快地看一下

1. ATM 是Automatic Teller Machine的縮寫，看見了沒？M這個字母就已經有machine的意思了

2. To plan something就已經有提前計畫的意思了，所以不用再說in advance. 其實即便中文的「計畫」，本身也有事前的意思，所以根本不用講「事前計畫」。

3. It's absolutely necessary. 一樣的道理，只要說It's necessary就好了。

4. Annual Anniversary這句說法的Annual 根本不需要，因為anniversary 就有周年的意思啦

5. Bald-headed不需要再加頭這個字了，難道無毛的問題會出現在膝蓋上嗎?
加上headed其實是多此一舉啊！

贅字語病陷阱 (紫色字為贅字)	這樣說就夠了 精簡為成功之本
(absolutely) essential/ absolutely necessary	Essential/necessary. 例句: He reminded me that it’s necessary to read through the book before jumping to a conclusion.
(actual) facts	Fact 例句: We want our research team to provide us with facts, not hypotheses.
(advance) planning/preview/warning/reservations	planning/preview/warning/reservations 例句: 1. Thorough planning/warning is needed before we announce our plans to the public. 2. These teenagers died because they didn’t listen to the old man’s warning. 3. I need to preview this chapter before class starts tomorrow. 4. You can just stop by anytime you want. No reservations needed.
add (an additional)/add (up)/(added) bonus	To add/ Add/Bonus. 例句: 1.     I need to add another cup of water to the cake batter. 2.     I was being told that every employee would get a bonus at the end of the year.
(all-time) record	Record 例句: The athlete cut a dash by setting another record yesterday. (cut a dash是出鋒頭的意思)
(Alternative) choice	Choice 例句: After I got laid off I had no choice but to move back home.
(anonymous) stranger	Stranger 例句: On my way to work I had encountered a stranger.
(annual) anniversary	Anniversary 例句: We celebrated our wedding anniversary by going bungee jumping.
attach (together)	Attach 例句: You need to attach these forms and place them in the big envelope.
ATM (machine)	ATM 例句: Can you stop by the ATM after work and withdraw some money?
autobiography (of his or her own life)	Autobiography (自傳，由自己撰寫) 例句: He was best-known for his controversial autobiography.
bald(-headed)	Bald 例句: She rejected him simply because he was bald.
(basic) fundamentals/necessities	Fundamentals/necessities 例句: 1.     You need to get yourself familiarize with all the fundamentals before attending that workshop. 2.     We packed all the necessities into our bags before taking off.
biography (of his--or her--life)	Biography (自傳，由他人撰寫) 例句: The unauthorized biography was selling like hotcakes. 這本並未被授權的自傳賣得嚇嚇叫
bouquet (of flowers)	Bouquet 例句: I’ll tell you how to keep a rose bouquet fresh and beautiful.
(brief) moment/summary	Moment/summary 例句: 1.     After he hung up the phone, my mind went blank for a moment. 2.     Just type in the title and you’ll find a summary written for each book.
blend (together)	Blend 例句: Before you bake these cookies, remember to blend all the chocolate chips and nuts and mix them well.
