Urban Food Forest

都市自耕樂趣多

Growing and using food nearby is likely to become more common in the near future. The US city of Seattle is starting an interesting food project. It is a seven-acre food forest with edible trees, shrubs, and plants in the neighborhood of Beacon Hill, which is four kilometers from downtown Seattle.

The Beacon Food Forest might not be very big, but having it right in the heart of a busy city is an unusual idea. People can freely pick the apples, pears, plums, grapes, blueberries, raspberries, and more that will be grown. There will be trees that provide both shade and nuts as well as a community garden where people in the neighborhood can grow their own food.

在不久的將來，就近種植食物或利用附近食材的做法有可能變得越來越普遍。美國西雅圖市正開始進行一項頗有意思的食物計畫。在畢肯丘這個與西雅圖市中心相隔四公里的地方，有一座佔地七英畝的食物叢林，裡頭栽種著各種可食用的樹木、灌木叢和其他植物。

畢肯食物叢林的規模並不算大，但將它設立在繁忙的市中心卻是個不尋常的點子。人們可以自由採收蘋果、梨子、梅子、葡萄、藍莓、覆盆子及更多將會種植在當地的食物。那裡也種有可同時提供樹蔭和堅果的樹木，並可做為讓附近民眾得以自行種植食物的一座社區花園。
